8 foods that are no good for your digestion

 TAGS:undefinedIf you suffer from digestive problems you should avoid some foods that can make gases and cramps even worse. If you select your food wells, you can notably improve your digestion. What foods should you avoid

  1. Fats and fried food: We all like fried food once in a while. The problem arises if we want to eat it frequently and night time. "The stomach can't  cope with that large amount of fat at a time, so it slows down", says Dr. Anton Emmanuel, director at the Charity Core Center. It can cause heartburn, acid reflux and nausea.
  2. Spicy food: If you are not used to eating very spicy food it is very likely that it causes you stomach pain. A dairy product can help to calm down the nausea after having a spicy meal.
  3. Cheese and milk: If you feel stomach cramps or swelling after consuming these foods you might me suffering from lactose intolerance. Lactose intolerance occurs when people do not produce enough digestive enzymes to break down the sugar which is found in milk, called lactose. If you are intolerant to lactose, you can take other products with calcium like eggs, meat and fish.
  4. Fruit: Citrus fruits can cause heartburn, especially if taken on an empty stomach.
  5. Processed food: Processed food contains various chemical ingredients and high amounts of sugar and salt. They can cause stomach pain, diarrhea and mood swings.
  6. Coffee: Coffee stimulates the production of stomach acid. If consumed excessively it can cause inflammation, heartburn and stomach cramps. It is best to consume it together with other food.
  7. Gum: Some gum brands contain sweetener called sorbitol which can cause bloating and diarrhea.
  8. Ketchup: this sauce contains wheat and can therefore be difficult to digest.

We for our part, recommend a balanced diet, do some exercise and drink a little bit of wine every day, which is always good for both health and for joy :)
