You can’t have more pleasure than to drink a delicious cocktail during a sunset in your comfortable terrace, facing the sea while watching the sun disappear over the horizon. When we hear the word cocktail usually we think of whiskey, rum, vodka or gin mixed with some fruit juice of your preference, but the truth is that trends are changing. In Spain, for example, they have cocktails with champagne and other sparkling wines and is a craze among consumers ranging from 18 to 65 years, according to a survey conducted by The Codorníu Raventos Group.

Generally, according to the study by the Codorníu Group, Spaniards prefer to enjoy cocktails during the summer days. As stated before, the preference is for those drinks with rum and whiskey, although the Champagne it’s positioned in third place, above cocktails based on gin and tequila. The trend is slowly changing, because although they are 56% those who prefer a "classic" cocktail, 44% are opting to try new things, like those made with Champagne, and it’s a statistic that is gaining ground over time.

The best and preferred combination among those surveyed are drinks made with Champagne and fruit juices, with more than half of the respondents choosing this option, although others combinations -a little bit more exotics- that include spices or honey are also on the rise.

With today’s items available at hand, we can pretty much prepare any cocktail in our homes, due to the extensive access to tools and utensils to make almost any cocktail on a professional manner, Spaniards still prefer to go out to local bars and pubs to have a good time with their relatives and friends, followed by cocktail bars and lastly to specialized type bars or chill out terraces.

Whatever and wherever, the most important thing, is that you enjoy your cocktails with champagne and, above all, to do it in good company ;)
